This specimen was lot 31383 in Heritage sale 3041 (Chicago, August 2015), where it sold for $3,525. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ferdinand VII gold Escudo 1820 Mo-JJ AU58 NGC, Mexico City mint. The final year in this type with solid design elements--especially the bust of Ferdinand VII. Very desirable as a coin on the cusp of Mint State. From The Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins." This type was struck 1814-21 and is usually seen in VF-EF or lower. Jewelry damage is common.
