This specimen was lot 11105 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $1,058. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. War of Independence Chihuahua. 8 Reales, 1820-RP. Over struck on a 1810 or 1811-L.V.O. Zacatecas 8 Reales. VERY RARE. Typical crude manufacture. Edge has been smoothed. FINE." This type was struck 1814-22 under very primitive conditions. The SCWC notes that most specimens were struck over cast Chihuahua eight reales (KM 123).

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.

Specification: 27.07 grams, 0.896 fine silver, .780 troy oz ASW.
