This specimen was lot 3388 in the Eliasberg sale, where it sold for $34,500. The catalog description^[1] noted, "1881 A 10 pesos. Hermosillo mint. MS-62 (NGC). Types as above. Highly lustrous yellow gold with coppery toning highlights. Fine hairline scratch noted on obverse. A rare Hermosillo issue, unpriced and listed as 'rare' in Krause. From the John H. Clapp Collection; Clapp estate to Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr., 1942." Mintage figures are not a reliable indicator of rarity for this type due to the accidents of hoarding; many low mintage issues are readily available while other high mintage issues are very rare.
