China SB117-2307r.jpg

This specimen was lot 2307 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. 50 Yuan, 1993. Panda Series. PCGS MS-69. Large date." The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. A complete set is thousands of types yet buyers clamor for more. The SCWC indicates that the "P" mintmark (not shown here) marks the proofs.

Recorded mintage: 31,254 plus 2,500 proofs.

Specification: 15.55 g, 0.999 fine gold, .500 troy oz AGW, 27 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: Fr-B5; KM-A614; PAN-190a.
