This specimen was lot 3899 in Goldberg sale 90 (Los Angeles, January 2016), where it sold for $305.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "China. 5 Yuan, 1993. Archeological Finds. Ox lantern. Gem Brilliant Proof." The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. A complete set is thousands of types yet buyers clamor for more.
Recorded mintage: 2,000.
Specification: 15 g, 0.900 fine silver, .432 troy oz ASW.
