This specimen was lot 5129 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €1,900 (about US$2,644 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"CHINA, Volksrepublik. 100 Yuan 1993. Große Persönlichkeiten der chinesischen Geschichte. Mao Ze Dong. 10,38 g Feingold. GOLD. Polierte Platte. (people's republic of China, one hundred yuan of 1993. Great figures in Chinese history, Mao Zedong. Proof.)"
This is one of a series of NCLT's honoring great figures of Chinese history and certainly no one towers taller than Mao Zedong, for good or ill.
