Sincona sale 98, lot 4658

This specimen was lot 4658 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 350 CHF (about US$508 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, 10 Schilling 1724, Zürich. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Gutes vorzüglich. Stempelrisse im Avers. (Switzerland, city and canton of Zürich, ten schilling of 1724, Zürich mint. Rare in this condition, About Uncirculated, Die cracks on obverse.)"

This type was struck 1718-32, 1736, 1739-53. At the beginning of the eighteenth century, the thaler was raised from 72 schilling to 80 schilling, making this an eighth of a thaler.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specifications: 4.8 g, silver, 28 mm diameter, this specimen 5.22 g.
