Sincona sale 70, lot 3673

This specimen was lot 3673 in Sincona sale 70 (Zürich, May 2021), where it sold for 120 CHF (about US$158 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWITZERLAND | Zurich | Stadt und Kanton. 10 Schilling 1730, Zürich. Gutes vorzüglich. Minimaler Schrötlingsfehler. (Switzerland, canton of Zurich, ten schilling of 1730, Zurich mint. Good extremely fine, Minimal flan flaw.)"

This type was struck 1718-27, 1730-32, 1736-53. One thaler = 80 schillinge, making this coin a quarter gulden or one-eighth of a thaler. In 1798, the canton of Zürich was forcibly incorporated into the Helvetic Republic.
