Sincona sale 91, lot 3677

This specimen was lot 3677 in Sincona sale 91 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 375 CHF (about US$496 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, Vierteldukat 1730 (30 über 27), Zürich. Selten. Fast vorzüglich. Feine Kratzer. (Switzerland, canton of Zürich, quarter ducat of 1730, Zürich mint, 1730/27 overdate. Rare, About extremely fine, Minor scratches.)"

This type was struck 1718-67 along with a half (Fr-488a), single (Fr-486a) and double ducat (Fr-485a). Overdates exist, altho the 1730/27 shown here is not mentioned in the SCWC.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 0.875 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 0.81 g.
