Sincona sale 102, lot 5666

This specimen was lot 5666 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 475 CHF (about US$716 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ. Zürich. Stadt und Kanton. Vierteldukat 1732/29, Zürich. Jahreszahl im Stempel aus 1729 geändert. Sehr selten. Gewellt. Fast vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Zürich, quarter ducat of 1732, Zürich mint, 1732/29 overdate. Very rare, Wavy flan, About Extremely Fine.)"

This type was struck 1718-67 along with a half (Fr-488a), single (Fr-486a) and double ducat (Fr-485a). Overdates are common, as shown here. In 1798, the canton of Zürich was forcibly incorporated into the Helvetic Republic.
