Sincona sale 91, lot 3691

This specimen was lot 3691 in Sincona sale 91 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 450 CHF (about US$595 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, Halbtaler 1743, Zürich. Spruch. Vorzüglich. Hübsche Patina. (Switzerland, canton of Zürich, half thaler of 1743, Zürich mint, motto reverse. Extremely fine, Attractively toned.)"

This half thaler was struck 1723-68 and is thoroughly mixed with the city view half thalers (KM 146) of the same period.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver, this specimen 13.65 g.
