Zurich 1753 1/2 thaler KM-146
This specimen was lot 3681 in Sincona sale 70 (Zürich, May 2021), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$527 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWITZERLAND | Zurich | Stadt und Kanton. Halbtaler 1753, Zürich. Stadtansicht. Mzz. HIG links des Fraumünsterturms. Gezackter Rand. Gutes vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Zurich, half thaler of 1753, Zurich mint, city view reverse. Good extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1720-29, 1732-36, 1739-45, 1748, 1751-61, 1764-68 along with a half thaler with a motto reverse (KM 145). In 1798, the canton of Zürich was forcibly incorporated into the Helvetic Republic.
