Zurich 1753 1/2 ducat Fr-487a
This specimen was lot 31580 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $793.13. The catalog description[1] noted, "Zurich. City gold 1/2 Ducat 1753/48 MS64 NGC. A rare certified grade and quality for this date with typical reflective qualities in the fields and the addition of rich golden patina that surrounds many of the raised surfaces. Almost entirely absent post-strike handling and as such, a coin that should please even the most condition-sensitive collector. From the Redwood Collection, Part II." This type was struck without change 1718-67 yet remains scarce. The earlier type of 1712-16 has the same Friedberg number but has a distinctly different reverse.
