Sincona sale 98, lot 4688

This specimen was lot 4688 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 600 CHF (about US$870 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, Halbdukat 1751, Zürich. Gutes vorzüglich. Kleine Kratzer. (Switzerland, city and canton of Zürich, half ducat of 1751, Zürich mint. About Uncirculated, Small scratches.)"

This scarce type was struck 1718-36, 1739-45, 1748, 1751-53, 1756-61 and 1767 along with quarter (Fr-488a), single (Fr-486a) and double ducats (Fr-485a). In 1798, the canton of Zürich was forcibly incorporated into the Helvetic Republic.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specifications: 1.75 g, 0.986 fine gold, 22 mm diameter, this specimen 1.71 g.
