Zurich 1748 1/2 ducat Fr-487a
This specimen was lot 31578 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $763.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Zurich. City 1/2 Ducat 1748/1 MS63 NGC. Sharply detailed with sparkling radiance over both sides and minimal evidence of handling. Although not listed as such on the NGC insert, very likely a 1748/1 (or possibly 7) overdate, as a horizon[t]al stroke is seen running through the lower loop of the 8 in the date. From the Redwood Collection, Part II." This type was struck without change 1718-67 yet remains scarce. The earlier type of 1712-16 has the same Friedberg number but has a distinctly different reverse.
