Zurich 1748 1/4 ducat Fr-488
This specimen was lot 32302 in Heritage sale 3076 (Long Beach, CA, September 2019), where it sold for $1,110. The catalog description[1] noted, "Switzerland: Zurich. Canton gold 1/4 Ducat 1748/5 MS65 NGC, Lustrous and even bordering on prooflike, this small golden gem expresses a level of detail and sharpness that justifiably place it at the top of the population seen by both NGC and PCGS combined. From the Allen Moretti Swiss Collection." This type was struck 1718-45, 1748-53, 1756-61, 1767. Altho this overdate is unlisted, this type turns up in choice condition occasionally. Twenty schillings, half thalers, thalers, half ducats and ducats were also struck in 1748.
