Sincona sale 39, lot 4791

This specimen was lot 4791 in Sincona sale 39 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 6,500 CHF (about US$7,796 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Zürich, Doppeldukat 1743. Selten. Vorzüglich-FDC. (canton of Zürich, double ducat of 1743. Rare. Extremely fine-uncirculated.)"

This scarce type was struck 1718-67 along with half (Fr-487a) and single ducats (Fr-486a).

Specification: 7 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 6.79 g.
