Künker Auction 440, lot 3504

This specimen was lot 3504 in Künker sale 440 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €900 (about US$1,238 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"WÜRTTEMBERG, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH, WÜRTTEMBERG, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH Friedrich II. (I.), 1797-1806-1816. 20 Kreuzer 1799, Stuttgart. Ohne Signatur des Stempelschneiders. RR Sehr schön-vorzüglich, Exemplar der Auktion Münzen & Medaillen Deutschland 19, Weil am Rhein 2006, Nr. 1306. (duchy of Württemberg, Frederick II, 1797-1816, twenty kreuzer of 1799, Stuttgart mint, without engraver's signature. Very rare, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This scarce type was struck 1798-99. One convention thaler was 120 kreuzer. Frederick's support of Napoleon was rewarded with promotion from duke to king in 1806, along with a substantial addition of territory as mediatization swept away the free cities and ecclesiastical states.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 6.68 g, 0.583 fine silver, this specimen 6,65 g.

Catalog reference: KM 463, AKS 6; Klein/Raff 7.2.
