Wurttemberg 1800 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 3513 in Künker sale 440 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €400 (about US$550 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"WÜRTTEMBERG, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH Friedrich II. (I.), 1797-1806-1816. Kreuzer 1800. Mit Monogramm F. II, die Rückseite mit der Jahreszahl über gekreuztem Palm- und Lorbeerzweig. Kl. Schrötlingsfehler, fast Stempelglanz. Erworben im Juni 1990 aus dem Lager der BW-Bank, Stuttgart. (duchy of Württemberg, Frederick II, 1797-1816, kreuzer of 1800. Obverse with monogram "F. II"; reverse with the date over crossed palm and laurel branches. Light planchet defects, about uncirculated.)"
This scarce type was struck 1800 only along with a similar KM 476. One convention thaler was 120 kreuzer. Frederick's support of Napoleon was rewarded with promotion from duke to king in 1806, along with a substantial addition of territory as mediatization swept away the free cities and ecclesiastical states.
