Künker sale 335, lot 4498

This specimen was lot 4498 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabruck, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €260 (about US$340 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"WÜRTTEMBERG, WÜRTTEMBERG, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH. Friedrich II. (I.), 1797-1806-1816. 20 Kreuzer 1798, Stuttgart. R Leicht justiert, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, duchy of Wurttemberg, Frederick II, 1797-1816, one-sixth thaler of 1798, Stuttgart mint. Light adjustment marks, very fine to extremely fine.)"

Two different coins of the same module were issued in 1798. This one we have chosen to catalog as a one-sixth thaler, has a continuous legend on the reverse and no mark of value. The other (KM 463) has a "20" (for 20 kreuzer) on the reverse and the crown divides the legend.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 6.68 g, 0.583 fine silver, this specimen 6.64 g.
