This specimen was lot 3514 in Künker sale 440 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €140 (about US$193 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"WÜRTTEMBERG, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH Friedrich II. (I.), 1797-1806-1816. 1/2 Kreuzer 1798, Stuttgart. Mit Monogramm F . II ., die Rückseite mit Wertzahl I / 2 und der Bruchstrich (schräg) mit seitlichen Begrenzungslinien. Vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion Heidelberger Münzhandlung, Herbert Grün 61, Heidelberg 2013, Nr. 3863. (duchy of Württemberg, Frederick II, 1797-1816, half kreuzer of 1798, Stuttgart mint. Obverse with monogram "F . II .", the reverse with value "1/2" with serifs on the fraction bar. Extremely fine.)"
This scarce type was struck 1798 only. One convention thaler was 120 kreuzer. Frederick's support of Napoleon was rewarded with promotion from duke to king in 1806, along with a substantial addition of territory as mediatization swept away the free cities and ecclesiastical states.
Recorded mintage: 280,000, all varieties.
Specification: billon, this specimen 0,60 g.
