Shown is a Spanish one escudo struck in 1787 at the Madrid mint. Assayer DV is recorded for the years 1786-1787. This specimen was auctioned by Marti Hervera in Barcelona, Spain, on May 3, 2011, where it sold for 150 euro (about US$247 including buyer's fees). The catalog description reads:

"Escudo. 1787. MADRID. D.V. (Rayas en averso). (EBC-). (one escudo of 1787, Madrid mint, DV, scratched obverse, about extremely fine.)"

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.38 g, 0.875 fine gold, 0.0951 troy oz AGW.
