Shown is a Spanish half escudo struck in 1786 at the Madrid mint. Assayer DV is recorded for the years 1786-1788. This specimen was auctioned by Marti Hervera in Barcelona, Spain, on May 3, 2011, where it sold for 121 euro (about US$200 including buyer's fees). The catalog description reads:
"1/2 Escudo. 1786. MADRID. D.V. MBC. (half escudo of 1786, Madrid mint, DV, very fine.)"
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 1.69 g, 0.875 fine gold, 0.0475 troy oz AGW.
