Künker sale 386, lot 5405

This specimen was lot 5405 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €2,000 (about US$2,585 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SACHSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM, Johann Georg II. 1656-1680. 1/4 Wechseltaler 1670, Dresden. Von großer Seltenheit. Attraktives Exemplar mit feiner Patina, sehr schön +. Exemplar der Auktion WAG Online 116, Februar 2021, Nr. 1072. (electorate of Saxony, John George II, 1656-80, quarter thaler of 1670, Dresden mint. Extremely rare, attractive example with fine patina, choice very fine.)"

This type was struck 1656-68, 1675-80 and is fairly common.
