This specimen was lot 13152 in Ponterio sale 177 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $3,819. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxony. Taler, 1669. NGC AU-58. Johann Georg II (1656-80). One small edge flaw. Dark toned." Other thalers exist for 1669 (Dav-7615). This type commemorates the birth of Johann Georg IV, who ruled 1691-94.
