This specimen was lot 1476 in Goldberg Sale 146 (Los Angeles, July 2025), where it sold for $96. The catalog description[1] noted, "German States: Saxony. 1/3 Taler, 1668-CR. Johann Georg II. PCGS graded EF-40. The Augustana Collection." The one-third thaler also circulated as a half gulden. This denomination was struck with two reverses in 1668; KM 517, with three shields on the reverse; and KM 522, shown here with one large shield. This style was struck until 1670. This example realized less than one quarter of the catalog value.
