This specimen was lot 42953 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2019), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxony. 1/3 Taler, 1673-CR. Johann Georg II (1656-80). PCGS MS-62 Gold Shield. Nicely toned with strong underlying soft satin luster." This type was struck 1672-75 and 1680. The lucky bidder on this lot paid a fraction of the catalog value.
