Saxony 1675-CR 1/3 thaler KM-547
This specimen was lot 32923 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $138. The catalog description[1] noted, "Saxony. Johann Georg II 1/3 Taler 1675-CR AU58 PCGS, Dresden (minted for Bautzen). Lightly toned. The example shows some unevenness of strike and wear, although the best-struck devices, such as the hair on the obverse and the left side of the shield on the reverse, demonstrate a phenomenal level of detail." This type was struck 1675-78 and is fairly scarce. There was a fad in north Germany to strike half gulden (1/3 thaler) in the 1670's and Saxony issued a few but not so many as other states. This type is listed for 1672-80.
