This specimen was lot 75435 in Stack's Bowers May 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $976. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Copper 5 Kopeks Novodel Pattern, 1830-CNB. St. Petersburg Mint. Nicholas I. PCGS SPECIMEN-61 Brown. A well struck example with sharp details and only minimal rub, likely from a display at the highest points." The production of the large copper five kopeks (KM C115, 51.2 g) ceased in 1810, superseded by a silver five kopeks (KM C156). The regime resumed striking copper five kopeks in 1831 from Ekaterinburg and Suzun while the St. Petersburg mint continued the production of the silver five kopeks. This pattern and the accompanying copper two kopeks (KM-Pn93) and ten kopeks (KM Pn98) may have been made in preparation of the event.
