Sincona sale 84, lot 282

This specimen was lot 282 in Sincona sale 84 (Zürich, October 2023), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSIA Russian Empire and Federation, 5 Kopecks 1829, St. Petersburg Mint, SPB NG. Very rare in this condition. Very fine."

This type was struck 1826-31 and is fairly common. It superseded a design which showed the eagle's wings up.

Recorded mintage: 80,000.

Specification: 1.03 g, 0.868 fine silver, this specimen 1.08 g.
