This specimen was lot 75438 in Stack's Bowers May 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $1,586. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Copper 2 Kopeks Novodel Pattern, 1830-CNB. St. Petersburg Mint. Nicholas I. PCGS SPECIMEN-62 Brown. Five feathers in eagle's tail. A desirable pattern issues with a pleasing patina that has formed with a good amount of iridescence remaining." The production of the large copper two kopeks (KM C114, 20.48 g) ceased in 1807, superseded by a smaller "wings up" type in 1810 (KM C118, 13.65 g). The coin was redesigned to use the "wings down" eagle in 1831. This pattern and the accompanying copper five kopeks (KM-Pn96) and ten kopeks (KM Pn98) may have been made in preparation of the event.
