This specimen was lot 4523 in Goldberg sale 80 (Los Angeles, June 2014), where it sold for $3,525. The catalog description[1] noted, "Russia. 5 Kopeks, 1809-ЕМ. Alexander I. Considerable original mint red. Very attractive example. NGC graded MS-64 Red & Brown." This type was struck 1802-10 at Ekaterinburg (shown here) and also the Suzun mint (mintmark KM). The production of silver five kopeks, suspended during this period, resumed in 1810.

Recorded mintage: 10,140,000.

Specification: 51.19 g, copper, 43.5 mm diameter.
