Sincona sale 99, lot 130

This specimen was lot 130 in Sincona Auction 99 (Zürich, October 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSLAND Kaiserreich und Föderation, Alexander I. 1801-1825, 5 Kopecks 1806, Ekaterinburg Mint, EM. Vorzüglich. Rotes Kupfer mit Prägeglanz. (empire of Russia, Alexander I, 1801-25, five kopeks of 1806, Ekaterinburg mint. 0.5 roubles according to Petrov. Extremely Fine, Red copper with remaining mint luster.)"

This type was struck 1802-10 at Ekaterinburg (shown here) and also the Suzun mint (mintmark KM). The production of silver five kopeks, suspended during this period, resumed in 1810. This type is not expensive in circulated condition.

Recorded mintage: 38,415,684.

Specification: 51.19 g, copper, 43.5 mm diameter, diagonally reeded edge, this specimen 52.18 g.
