This specimen was lot 6150 in Goldberg sale 72 (Los Angeles, February 2013), where it sold for $862.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Russia. Ruble, 1809-СПБ МК. Alexander I. Harshly cleaned. NGC graded Extremely Fine, Details (Excessive Surface Hairlines)." The SCWC records this product of the St. Petersburg mint (СПБ) for 1807-10, with mintmaster FG (ФГ) for 1803-11 and assayer MK for 1808-09. The type is much scarcer than later rubles of Alexander I (Dav-281).
