This specimen was lot 22545 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $11,750. The catalog description[1] noted, "Alexander I Polupoltinnik (1/4 Rouble) 1809 СПБ-MК, Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle with date above / Crowned four-line inscription in wreath, AU Details, Surface Hairlines, NGC. Well struck, with silvery-gray color and significant remaining luster. A few very minor hairlines are noted." This rare type of 1809-10 is the last polupoltinnik (quarter ruble) issued. The denomination was superseded by the twenty-five kopeks in 1827 (KM C159).
