This specimen was lot 25368 in Heritage sale 3019 (Chicago, April 2012), where it sold for $8,050. The catalog description[2] noted, "Alexander I Rouble 1817 CПБ-ПC, Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle with date below / Crowned four-line inscription in wreath, MS65 NGC. Well struck with attractive reddish-golden toning and scattered bluish highlights. Very rare in this exceptional condition." This type was struck 1810-26 in large quantities but is today very rare in nice condition. The succeeding type (Dav-282) is very similar but with a modified eagle. Several assayers exist for this date.

Recorded mintage: 16,275,000 (all mintmasters).

Specification: 20.73 g, 0.868 fine silver.
