Russia 1817-KM AM 1/2 kopek
This specimen was lot 34932 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $780. The catalog description[1] noted, "Russia: Alexander I 1/2 Kopeck (Denga) 1817 КM-AM MS65 Brown NGC. Endowed with an exquisite strike that fully accentuates the classic design features. The imperial eagle is emblazoned with cupric radiance while the gem surfaces full hold the attention of the eye." This product of the Kolyvan mint (mintmaster Alexei Maleev) was struck 1812-17. Other mints include Ekaterinburg, Izhora and St. Petersburg. The half kopek was commonly called the denga and the quarter kopek the polushka.
