Sincona sale 19, lot 454

This specimen was lot 454 in Sincona sale 19 (Zürich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 950 (about US$1,191 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Denga 1815, Ekaterinburg Mint, HM. 2.23 g (35% less than standard weight 3.41 g). Rare. 2 roubles acc. to Iljin. 5 roubles according to Petrov. 3 roubles according to Trapeznikov. Very fine. Collector’s note: “R. Only 59 000 pcs struck”." The denga was half a kopek. This type is listed for 1810-28 from Ekaterinburg, St. Petersburg and Izhora.
