Stack's Bowers 2026 ANA sale, lot 42697
SB826-42697r.jpg

This specimen was lot 42697 in Stack's Bowers Summer 2026 Global Showcase Auction (Pittsburgh, September 2026), where it sold for $1,586. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Copper 10 Kopeks Novodel, 1830-EM. Ekaterinburg Mint. Nicholas I. NGC MS-61 Brown. A fairly RARE and seldom-encountered later striking, this Mint State specimen features rich chocolate brown surfaces with some alluring brilliance residing among the rather expansive fields." This example is very similar to KM C141.1 of 1831-39. It was struck to order for collectors who were likely confused as to why they couldn't find any 1830's for their sets. None were made for circulation.

Recorded mintage: unknown but few.

Specification: 45.2 g, copper, 42 mm diameter, plain edge.

Catalog reference: KM-N499; Brekke-275; Bit-H456.
