This specimen was lot 7076 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $822.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. 50 Soles, 1965. NGC MS-65. Some light bag marks visible in fields. Die brush lines visible as well. High full luster throughout with lightly contrasted devices." This denomination, struck 1950-69, was theoretically a circulating coin but actually was a bullion piece like her sisters, the gold five, ten, twenty and hundred soles.
Recorded mintage: 23,000.
Specification: 23.405 g, 0.900 fine gold, .677 troy oz AGW.
