This specimen was lot 21687 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it sold for $1,500 as a "post auction buy." The catalog description[1] noted, "Ferdinand VII gold 8 Escudos 1819-JP, AU53 NGC, sharply struck features for this era at the Lima Mint, luster in the legends and no adjustment marks. From the Don Benito Collection of Hispanic Gold." This coin was minted 1814-21 and turns up more often than the Mexican coin of the same type.
