Peru 1819-L JP 2 escudos
This specimen was lot 75806 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $1,128.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. 2 Escudos, 1819-LIMAE JP. Lima Mint. Ferdinand VII. PCGS EF-45. A RARELY encountered type and the first we can recall seeing of this particular date. The majority of the wear is confined to the portrait, with the luster in the fields fairly protected and intact. From the Richard August Collection." While eight escudos from Peru are reasonably available for a price, the small gold denominations are all very rare.
