This specimen was lot 12230 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $1,492. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. 8 Escudos, 1820-JP. NGC AU Details--Surface Hairlines. Demarete Collection." This coin was minted 1814-21 and turns up more often than the Mexican coin of the same type.
