The first specimen was lot 73236 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $125. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 10 Centavos, 1885-Zs S. Zacatecas Mint. NGC MS-64. A shimmering and fully brilliant example that is augmented by some golden hints of toning scattered throughout." The second specimen was lot 71453 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[2] noted, "MEXICO. 10 Centavos, 1885-Zs (S). Zacatecas Mint. NGC VF-25. KM-403.10. Variety without assayer's initials. Second highest of just two graded by NGC. Rare variety. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Decimal Minors." This is a common date of a type struck at Zacatecas 1870-97. Varieties include a small "S" in the mintmark or a missing assayer initial "S".
