This specimen was part of lot 73063 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), which sold for $793. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Sextet of 2 Reales (6 Pieces), 1826-43. Guadalajara Mint. Grade Range: VG Details to EF Details. 1) 1826-Ga FS. 2) 1826-Ga FS. 3) 1840-Ga MC. 4) 1842-Ga JG/MC. 5) 1843-Ga JG. 6) 1843/3-Ga MC/JG. SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca did not strike this type. The Guadalajara mint produced two reales nearly continuously 1825-62. Assayer JG (Juan de Dios Guzman, 1836-63) and assayer MC (Manuel Cueras, 1839-45) both stamped two reales in the 1840's but only Cueras is known for 1840. No regular date is listed for the year.
