Stack's Bowers 2015 NYINC sale, lot 1273
Mexico Stacks Jan15-1273r.jpg

This specimen was lot 1273 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $2,820. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Durango. 8 Escudos, 1840/30-DoRM/RL. PCGS Genuine--Cleaning, AU Details Secure Holder. Scarce date. Well struck with light hairlines from being cleaned long ago, now with light attractive toning." While Durango mint eight escudos are not rare, the SCWC lists no normal date for the year. Uncirculated eight escudos of Durango are not common compared to those of Mexico City.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.875 fine gold, .760 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: Fr-68; KM-383.3.
