Sincona sale 85, lot 1225

This specimen was lot 1225 in Sincona sale 85 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 3,800 CHF (about US$5,117 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"IRAN, Sultan Ahmad Shah, 1327-1344 AH (1909-1925). 5000 Dinars 1332 AH (1913/1914 AD), Tehran Mint. Lion & Sun type. KM -. Very rare. NGC MS63. Magnificent condition. Most attractively toned. From the Kian collection, auction SINCONA 49, October 2018, lot 278. From the Turath collection, auction Spink & Son, London, October 1999. Finest certified by NGC."

This silver denomination is well attested with a bust obverse (KM 1058). This example, with a lion obverse, is not mentioned in the SCWC. It may actually be a medal.
