Sincona sale 85, lot 1194

This specimen was lot 1194 in Sincona sale 85 (Zürich, October 2023), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"IRAN, Sultan Ahmad Shah, 1327-1344 AH (1909-1925). 10 Tomans 1331 AH (1912/1913 AD), Tehran Mint. Bust type. Very rare. NGC MS62+. From the Kian collection, auction SINCONA 49, October 2018, lot 250. Bought from Mortimer Hammel, Stacks & Bowers, New York, 1982. Finest certified by NGC."

This rare type was also issued in AH 1337. This specimen was offered again as lot 117 in Sincona sale 92 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 18,000 CHF (about US$24,948 including buyer's fees).

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 28.74 g, 0.900 fine gold, 37 mm diameter, this specimen is 28.45 g.
