Iran AH 1337 10 toman KM-1077
This specimen was lot 1196 in Sincona sale 85 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 20,000 CHF (about US$26,932 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"IRAN, Sultan Ahmad Shah, 1327-1344 AH (1909-1925). 10 Tomans 1337 AH (1918/1919 AD), Tehran Mint. On the 10th Anniversary of his Reign. Bust type with Lion & Sun reverse. Extremely rare. NGC UNC Details. Mount removed. From the Kian collection, auction SINCONA 49, October 2018, lot 251. Bought from Spink & Son, London, 1983."
This was the largest gold coin issued by the Qajars with any frequency yet all remain rare. It accompanied another ten toman with a bust obverse and inscription reverse (KM 1076), also issued in AH 1337. Ahmad departed for Europe in 1923 and was ousted in 1925 by Reza Pahlavi.
