The first specimen was lot 408 in Goldberg sale 136 (Los Angeles, September 2023), where it sold for $1,260. The catalog description[1] noted, "Iran. Toman, AH1333 (1914). Ahmed, 1909-1925. Bust with plumed hat. Reverse: Legend. PCGS graded MS-62." The second specimen was lot 1203 in Sincona sale 85 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 850 CHF (about US$1,145 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"IRAN, Sultan Ahmad Shah, 1327-1344 AH (1909-1925). 1 Toman 1333 AH (1914/1915 AD), Tehran Mint. Bust type. NGC MS62+. From the Kian collection, auction SINCONA 49, October 2018, lot 231. Finest certified by NGC."

The third specimen was lot 2896 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 4,250 CHF (about US$6,406 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[3] noted,

"IRAN Qajar Dynasty, Ahmad Shah, 1327-1344 AH (1909-1925). 2 Tomans 1333 AH (1914), Tehran Mint. Bust type. In the weight of 1 Toman. Sehr selten, Very rare. PCGS MS62. The reverse die used was an unadopted pattern."

This type was struck AH 1332-1343 during the reign of Ahmad Shah (r. 1909-25), the last Qajar shah. He was officially overthrown in 1925 but had left Iran in 1923 for Europe, never to return. The two varieties (Fr-83a and Fr-84) have different legends at the bottom of the reverse.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a better date.

Specification: 2.87 g, 0.900 fine gold, 0.083 troy oz AGW, 19 mm diameter. The second specimen is 2.88 g, the third specimen is 2.91 g.

Catalog reference: The first and third specimens are KM 1073, Fr-83a. The second specimen is Fr-84; KM-1074.
